Mark Fleming and Amy Steward have won the Coronado City Council race after Laura Wilkinson Sinton conceded on Dec. 3 after the final election results were released by the Registrar of Voters.

Fleming leads the race with 22.57% of votes as of Dec. 3 and Amy Steward is in second at 19.81%. Wilkinson Sinton follows closely behind at 19.3%, or 80 votes short.

Wilkinson Sinton announced her concession on facebook, congratulating Fleming and Steward.

“It has been a great campaign — and I am so grateful to my supporters and all of Coronado,” reads the Dec. 3 post. “With the final counts in today, I concede the race and want to congratulate Mark Fleming and Amy Steward, who will serve as our new City Council members in Coronado.”

Fleming is a 66-year-old retiree who previously owned and operated two businesses with over 800 employees— a large commercial electrical contracting company called Corbins and a technology and innovation company that provides services to the construction industry, NOX innovations.

This was Steward’s first run for office, but she has been active in local schools and as founder and president of Emerald Keepers, a non-profit organization in Coronado that aims to address environmental stewardship.
