It’s the most wonderful time of the year for people and spoiled pets everywhere. We’re stringing the stockings, buying dog-friendly festive decor, trying to get the best deal on Christmas presents for our pups, and most important, involving them all the way.

One mom took this to the next level on Monday, November 18th, when she was stringing up the Christmas lights. She had some left over and decided to light up her Golden Retriever, too, and thank goodness she did! He’s the best decoration of them all:

Maverick the Golden is handsome all year round, but there is something extra special about this. That holiday cheer just makes everything even better!

Maverick the Golden is a star, plain and simple. He only has 16,000 actual followers on TikTok, but that’s going to change soon enough: this video alone garnered 22.4. million views and comments from big accounts like:

  1. Jake from State Farm
  2. Hidden Valley Ranch
  3. Walmart
  4. Almond Breeze

We can’t get enough of Maverick, how good he’s being, or how amazing the final result is. It’s so clean, too: no cords or battery packs in sight! It legitimately looks like he’s just glowing! He’s not, though. There are lights strung in his fur, tucked underneath so it looks seamless. Luckily, he has a lot of fur to work with.

Cute ideas for Christmas dog pictures

There’s still a little bit of time before Christmas Card Season, so if you haven’t yet, you need to get in on that now! Christmas cards are adorable regardless, but if you can involve your dog, you definitely should.

Plenty of professional photographers are dog-friendly, especially if you hire one that will travel to you. However, even some larger “chain” photographers are dog-friendly, though they may charge a fee. Before you go in for your session, always make sure you ask. If you’re going in somewhere, you could bring along a matching sweater or a Santa hat for them!

If you’re doing portraits at home, you have a little more freedom and can do some more interesting setups, like:

  1. Hiding the dog in a pile of presents (you can use recycled wrapping paper and empty old boxes).
  2. Dressing them up in a full costume (with or without lights).
  3. Setting up a pile of fake snow and putting them on a sled/sleigh.
  4. Gathering a couple of friends or family members to hold them up “on top” of the tree.
  5. Putting them inside a gift box (which could be a sweet yearly tradition).

The lucky thing about pet portraits is that they don’t need to cost tons of money: you have more than you think and don’t need to go buying a whole bunch of new stuff, I promise. All Maverick’s mom needed were a few treats and a string of lights!
