These new fur parents recently experienced this not-uncommon system. Although they weren’t in the market for an Orange cat, they received one anyway.

Bashie’s parents (@_studio_sng) explain that they weren’t planning on getting a cat, but when this Orange kitten was discovered on a property they were renovating, they knew they had to help. After a few failed attempts, they were finally able to capture him. And it didn’t take long before he revealed his charming personality and voracious appetite. Even wearing a cast on his wounded leg, he was still filled with a zest for life. This former stray is so good-natured he doesn’t even mind taking baths! Wow! Maybe he’s part Maine Coon. The combination of these charming traits made it easy for them to fall in love with him, and now he is home where he belongs.
Three ways to earn a stray cat’s trust
- Providing food is one of the quickest ways to gain a stray cat’s trust. Maintaining regular feeding schedules can also show that you are a reliable source.
- Shelter them, especially in colder weather, by creating a safe and comfortable space. This can give them a sense of security and encourage them to return regularly. It can also help to leave a piece of clothing behind to help them become familiar with your scent.
- Remain calm, as cats are perceptive of our body language. Crouching down and avoiding direct eye contact can make us appear less threatening, especially as they are just getting to know you.
