4 Wednesday: Coronado Public Library, in partnership with the Coronado Island Film Festival, presents Film Forum Coronado, taking place the first and third Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. in the library’s Winn Room. Film expert Ralph DeLauro provides a brief introduction to each film and leads a discussion afterwards, often including pointers about how lighting or camera angles contribute to a scene’s mood or propel the story.
On Dec. 4, “The Russian Question” will be discussed.
5 Thursday: Author David Davenport, a research fellow emeritus at the Hoover Institute, will discuss hisbook, “A Republic If We Can Teach It: Fixing America’s Civic Education Crisis” at 11 a.m. in the Winn Room of the Coronado Public Library. Davenport examines the urgent need for better civic education to preserve the republic, highlighting the disconnect between young Americans and the foundational principles of self-government and freedom.
6 Friday: A hands-on class at the Coronado Public Library will give attendees the chance to make herbal holiday gifts while enjoying a holiday tea blend. The workshop is presented by herbalist Cindy Saylor and registration is required at cplevents.org.
