A sweet French Bulldog knows how important sleep is and he isn’t afraid to show it all over his face when he’s been woken up too early.
On June 4, 2024, TikTok user Walter Geoffrey (@waltergeoffrey) shared a video of a very tired Walter who was not at all interested in being woken up. Take a look!

In a short but hilarious clip, we meet Walter who is really tired and wants to stay asleep.

“When someone wakes you up too early…” the text on the screen reads. In the video, we see Walter, a really cute white French Bulldog who looks very tired.
“Walter, we’re going to California, bud,” his mom tells him. He hears her because he looks over his tucked-in shoulder with the most unimpressed eyes a dog could make.
The camera then pans down and surprise! We see another very unimpressed French Bulldog. This looks to be Walter’s sister, Charlotte, and she doesn’t care either. But she takes a different approach and deadpan stares right at the camera. She’s clearly upset about being woken up, too.
“If looks could kill…” the video’s caption reads.
In the comments, people had a good giggle at the unhappy French Bulldogs’s faces.
“Welcome to California, Walter,” one person shared.
“I feel you Walter, too early to be that loud,” another wrote.
“Walter is so beautiful,” someone else added.
“I think this is the only video of Walter not screaming,” joked another.
How much sleep does a French Bulldog need?
No two dogs are the same, but there are some generalizations about how much sleep a dog breed needs on average, and French Bulldogs like their sleep.
According to TomKings Kennel, the average number of hours an adult French Bulldog needs to sleep is around 12 to 14 hours a day, with adults and senior dogs needing more than that.
“Puppies, who are still growing, and older dogs, who may have decreased energy levels, can sleep for up to 18 to 20 hours a day,” they explain.
This dog breed is known for its love of naps, and having quality sleep is important, just like the proper number of hours.
“If you’re a Frenchie parent, it’s vital to ensure that your French Bulldog gets sufficient quality sleep. Lack of sleep can lead to a range of issues, including a weakened immune system and behavioral problems such as anxiety, irritability, or hyperactivity,” they warn.
But they note that quality of sleep is key, which means they also need a good balance of good nutrition and exercise, too.
