It is my deeply held belief that all dogs deserve to live lives of luxury with humans who keep them safe, healthy, and feeling loved — no exceptions. It’s always heartbreaking for me to see a dog who isn’t lucky enough to have that life, or worse, to be in an actively harmful situation the way that dogs who are used for lab testing are. Fortunately, there are some amazing people and organizations out there working to end animal testing and to rescue dogs who have been treated cruelly.
Obviously, it would be ideal if no dog (or any other animal) ever had to have that experience, but seeing how they react when they are finally free truly is so heartwarming. Case in point: the pup in this TikTok video, who now gets to play like all dogs should.

On Tuesday, May 28, @beaglefreedom shared this sweet video of a Beagle dog named Scout who has spent his life as a test subject and now finally gets to be free and live with a forever family of his own.
Part of that means that he gets to have his own toys for the very first time, and as we can see In this footage, it’s clear that’s something he won’t be taking for granted. This sweet baby is jumping all around with his toy in his mouth, throwing it and catching it. He’s never met a toy before, but he knows just what to do with it!
Of course, this is an emotional moment — one that really seemed to resonate with those who have seen the video. One commenter wrote, “Beagles are chosen because they are so gentle and sweet. Thank you so much for showing this wonderful pup that it’s loved.”

Scout was rescued through the Beagle Freedom Project, which works to free animals from labs by educating people (including younger students) to encourage them to work towards a positive change, fighting for better legislation to protect these animals, and actively freeing them and shutting down facilities where animal testing takes place.
“BFP specializes in the rescue, rehabilitation, and re-homing of animals in special need. We focus on the survivors of laboratory experiments, the Asian dog meat trade, puppy mills, those exploited in entertainment like ‘racing’ greyhounds, and unique international cases of abuse and neglect,” says the organization’s official website.
If you’d like to get involved in being part of the solution to animal testing, there are several ways to help out with this organization. Not only are there ways to volunteer and donate to the cause, but you can also help by fostering or adopting an animal who has been rescued.
