Jennifer Garner has never been shy about her love for animals! Not only is she very active on her family’s farm in Oklahoma, but her house seems to be filled with pets, and she doesn’t discriminate — she’s both a dog and a cat lady. If you follow her on Instagram, you already know all of this; most of her posts revolve around the pets in her life, even the less glamorous moments, which is why I’ve always found her so relatable despite her celebrity status. And while all her pets seem to have unique personalities on their own, the true star of the show appears to be her dog, Birdie.
So I’m not surprised one bit to see that Jennifer celebrated her pup’s birthday exactly as Birdie wanted it… including a treat that she already knew would be a hit.
@jennifergarnerDreams do come true! Happy birthday, Birdie ♥️🥳 . 🎤: @weratedogs
In the video that Jennifer posted on her official TikTok account on Tuesday, May 7, she shared the special way that she was going to make her Golden Retriever’s birthday dreams come true.
It all started with an interview she did with We Rate Dogs earlier this year, where she said that Birdie “wants to eat an entire string cheese — the whole thing — and she thought before she turns 9 is a good time.”
Now, Birdie is turning nine… and her mom presented her with a string cheese, complete with a candle so she could blow it out and make a wish!
Okay, so Jennifer ended up blowing it out, not the dog, but the sentiment still stands, and judging by how quickly Birdie ate that cheese, it looks like she was very satisfied with her birthday celebration (and she truly does look so adorable in her birthday hat).
More about Birdie
Birdie (along with Jennifer’s cat, Moose) has gained a following of her own thanks to what fans have seen of her in Jennifer’s posts on TikTok and Instagram. In fact, the dog is the star of her very own series called Books With Birdie, where Jen and Birdie read picture books for kids to tune into in videos.
Back in February, Birdie made a pretty cool accomplishment: She had been hired as a therapy dog at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, as Jennifer shared in that We Rate Dogs interview that I mentioned earlier.
“So she’s excited. She wants to have her first time at Children’s Hospital LA before she turns 9,” she said.
I hope that wish came true for her, too!
Happy birthday, Birdie! Here’s hoping Jennifer’s got something even more exciting planned when she hits double digits next year!
