Rescuing an animal can be a pretty emotional experience. It often takes time for these pets to feel safe and comfortable in a new environment, but when they finally do, the feeling of joy the moment provides is pretty hard to describe.

We’re seeing one of those moments unfold first hand in the heartwarming video below, as one rescuer’s new adopted kitty began purring in her arms for the first time. It’s a precious thing to witness, to say the least, proving that love and patience always wins.

@suncatchersanctuaryThis moment was the very first time I heard Priscilla purr🥺 We currently have two cats on our waitlist for intake and receive pleas everyday. Please help our sanctuary stay afloat so we can continue to give cats like Priscilla and many other special needs cats a chance❤️ #superseniorcat #seniorcat #seniorcatclub #specialneedscats #catsanctuary #catrescuer #catladylife

Seeing any animal find joy in life after the odds were stacked against them will always provide a feeling of pure, genuine happiness. After Priscilla, the rescue cat in the video, lost her pet parent of 15 years, I’m sure it was no easy task trying to readjust. In fact, breaking a 15-year routine of any kind would be difficult, but if this video proves anything, it’s that there’s always hope.

The good news is, it looks to me like she’s in good arms now, and has a chance to live out the rest of her days in a loving, comfortable environment at this sanctuary. And judging by how calm and content she looks in this video, I think she’s starting to realize it herself. This precious clip serves as a reminder as to just how important animal sanctuaries are for all types of animals in need. Every animal deserves to live a fulfilling life, and sanctuaries like Suncatcher know this better than anyone.

More about Suncatcher Sanctuary

Suncatcher Sanctuary is a cat sanctuary located in Phoenix, Arizona, that focuses on rescuing cats with special needs and those in need of hospice care.

The selfless individuals who care for these cats at Suncatcher are absolute superheroes and are doing the type of work not just anyone is typically willing to do, which only adds to the admiration.

Their dedication to rescuing cats who would often otherwise be overlooked is so inspiring, and the fact that their main mission is to provide these cats with a seemingly unlimited amount of love and care warms my heart.

“As passionate advocates, we’re dedicated to raising positive awareness and erasing the stigma around pets with special needs,” they mention on their website. And they’re certainly doing a great job at it.

Many of these cats simply can’t thrive in traditional shelters, which is already pretty heartbreaking. But fortunately, Suncatcher recognized this and has made it their own personal mission to provide the TLC these cats deserve, while providing them with the one-on-one attention they might not receive elsewhere.

Beyond the love they provide, they’re also major educators when it comes to cats with special needs and provide tons of important information when it comes to caring for these animals.

They prove that different doesn’t have to have a negative stigma attached to it. These cats want (and give) as much love as any others! It just takes a little extra educating to care for them at times.

At the end of the day, their compassion is simply unmatched. They aren’t just caring for these animals—they’re devoting a large chunk of their lives to make sure they’re happy, healthy and thriving as best as they can. And their efforts do not go unnoticed.
