I will literally never get tired of stories with happy endings. In fact, I want to hear and see as many of them as I possibly can—there is no limit. To see how a dog’s life can change after being rescued is the sweetest thing, and that’s exactly what this heartwarming video reveals.
After being found abandoned and lonely on the side of the road, the fear and sadness this pup must have experienced is heartbreaking to imagine. Thankfully, one loving couple stumbled upon him and changed his life forever. Take a look:
@runawayfarmsc365 days of Frank ♥️
Don’t worry if you’re feeling a little emotional after this—I’m right there with you! Because this is about as sweet as it gets, right? It’s like he’s a completely different dog, and in a way, he totally is. Dogs have so much love to give and deserve the same amount (if not more) in return. Even after being neglected and abandoned, Frank still learned how to love and trust his new humans. To me, that says so much.

To this day, I’ll never understand how people can just abandon their dogs, despite the reason they might have. Say what you want, but there’s no justifying this behavior. Look how happy and healthy our pal Frank is now! Had he not been found and rescued, it’s heartbreaking to imagine all the love and happiness that could’ve been wasted. It just tears at my soul. The good news is, he’ll never be alone again!
Do rescue dogs develop separation anxiety?
All dogs deal with some form of separation anxiety from time to time, it’s only natural.
But studies have shown that in most cases, rescued dogs tend to develop separation anxiety more than dogs who have been raised by the same family since they were puppies, for example, and there are a handful of reasons why.
In fairness, anyone would be affected by the loss or separation of someone important in their life and it’s no different for our furry friends (whether they were adopted or not).
With that said, just think about it—when a dog is rescued, of course they’re going to become extremely attached to their new parents. I mean… it’s sort of the point!
So, of course the thought of losing their new family has potential to linger somewhere in their minds, especially if they’ve already experienced it once in their life. This can play a major role in developing these anxious, uneasy feelings.
And whether they’re up for adoption because they were abandoned, surrendered to a shelter for various reasons or their former family unfortunately couldn’t care for them anymore, it’s definitely an experience that is bound to stir up some emotions.
Rescue pups take time and patience
Sometimes all it takes is a sudden change in your routine to spark these emotions as well. Every dog’s mental alarm clock is pretty impressive. All pet parents know that morning walks and feeding times are pretty much the same every single day, and if they’re ever off (even the slightest) our pups will generally let us know.
That said, when a pup is rescued, all these new routines can be fun and exciting for them. Of course they are! But if they suddenly change, it’s bound to freak them out a bit and cause some anxiety.
That’s why it’s so important to assist them with these emotions and definitely never get angry at them if they’re acting out because of it. We have no idea the level of stress they might actually be feeling, so it’s really on us to make sure they feel this way as little as possible.
They just love us. Simple as that. And the thought of their entire life potentially not being around would be stressful, you know?
Again, all dogs will experience it from time to time, but rescue pups have the potential to be a bit more fragile at first. They’ve typically already been through so much. Just give them the love they deserve, keep your routines tight and constantly reassure them that you’ll never leave their side.
It’s really the least we can do, either way.
