The Coronado Island Film Festival (CIFF) has announced the officers and directors of its board of directors for 2024.
The appointments include Phil Garn as president, Gail Bardin as vice president and Directors Jeanmarie Bond, Janice Lowenberg and Carol Sommer.
Rounding out the Executive Board will be Alison Lancaster, returning as the interim board treasurer and Carol Arendt as secretary.
This will be the fifth year on the board for Phil and the seventh for Gail, and the first year for all three directors.
Coming off a solid year of programming and the highly successful annual film festival, “our board directors, leadership and industry advisors are constantly looking at ways to expand the Coronado Island Film Festival and showcase our island’s rich history with filmmaking that spans over 100 years, and continues today bringing Hollywood icons and celebrating the magic of movies,” said Garn.
The board has experienced significant changes over the past three years, with the closure of the Village Theatre for 10 months and two industry strikes.
Despite these obstacles, the board remains optimistic about the festival’s potential to expand and showcase Coronado’s rich history with filmmaking.
“The potential of the festival cannot be overstated, from our Festival Founder, Doug St. Denis’ original vision, to the expansion of our mission under CEO & Artistic Director, Merridee Book, we have seen tremendous growth across our programming and impact within our local community, surrounding regions to international filmmakers and industry!” said Bardin.
