Parrots are too funny. They’re big and they’re beautiful – and they know it. They are fully aware of the fact that they’re some of the most majestic creatures on this planet.
They also know where the good snacks are, and as this beautiful boy shows us, they’re not going to stop until they get some:

There must never be a dull moment in @fixchix’s vet office.
This guy’s name is Cumulus, because he looks like a fluffy little cloud, and he’s very rambunctious. He’s a white cockatoo, which is a type of parrot – think of them like the weird cousin who shows up to Thanksgiving, eats all of the deviled eggs, and absolutely slays in the family’s Just Dance showdown. Not only are cockatoos curious and outgoing, they’re very easy to please.
Clearly, you’ll know when you’ve done something to make a cockatoo happy. They’ll bring their crests up, just like Cumulus, and make happy noises (often while throwing themselves around). These Australian natives eat seeds in the wild, and popcorn is a favorite treat of theirs.
Though maybe not the most nutritious treat there ever was, popcorn is very crunchy. There are a few different textures, too, which birds tend to enjoy. It also has a mild flavor that won’t upset the bird’s tummy (you should never give a bird popcorn that’s buttered or salted). While a piece of popcorn won’t really add much to their diet, it won’t harm it, either.
Teaching a cockatoo to dance is easier than it sounds. They pick up on cues quickly: Cumulus probably figured out that dancing will get him an extra piece. Or, honestly, maybe his joy was too much to contain without a little boogie. Either way, we love it!
