When we think of epic skateboarders, maybe we think about Jason Lee, or Tony Hawk, right? Whatever the case, the best skaters we know are human.
Until now. On Monday, October 23rd, a group of skaters let one little guy shine, and he was not human at all:

One might go through a few different emotions during the 16 seconds it takes to watch this video:
- Oh my goodness, that dog is wearing clothes.
- Is this safe? That dog could get hurt.
- Oh, wait, he loved it. Awww, everyone is cheering for him!
All of these, especially the anxiety, are completely valid feelings. As he goes down the stairs, there’s no way to help clenching your teeth and hoping he won’t go toppling over the board and down the stairs. He’s wearing clothing, which may be for extra padding or even to limit his mobility so he can’t take off on his own.
A dog can “learn” to skateboard. If you start putting them on when they’re puppies and teaching them the motions, it takes the fear out of it, and many actually enjoy it, just like how some small dogs love riding around on a Roomba vacuum. They like the feeling on the wheels moving them around.
This varies by dog, of course. If your pup is naturally anxious, teaching it to skateboard will not end well. Also, if you have a dog with shorter legs like a mini Dachshund, you should teach it to stand still on the board while you push it. Their short legs could cause trouble for them and trip them up.
The one thing I think is definitely a bad choice is letting the skateboard go down the stairs. Too much could go wrong, and it wouldn’t necessarily be their faults, but the dog could get hurt. Luckily, it went fine and it seems like the puppy in the video absolutely loved it!
