Here are several events going on around Coronado through the rest of the month. More events can be found at the Coronado Chamber of Commerce and Coronado Public Library’s websites.

23 – Saturday: The Spoilers Book Club reads books that are turned into movies and this event is “For Love of the Game” by Michael Shaara. The club compare the two and discusses what they did and didn’t like. This story is about Detroit pitcher Billy Chapel, who reflects on his life in major league baseball after he finds out his girlfriend moves to London for a job. The movie starred Kevin Costner and Kelly Preston. The program is from 2 to 5:30 p.m. at the Coronado Public Library.

27 – Wednesday: It’s Wine and Paint at Emerald C. Gallery from 6 to 8 p.m. No experience is necessary and all supplies are provided. The gallery is at 1331 Orange Ave.

29 – Friday: The Coronado Public Library’s Autumn Concert Series takes place every Friday through Nov. 3, and each concert begins at 1 p.m. in the Winn Room. This week, guitarist Ron Wheeler will perform popular acoustic tunes from the 1960s through today. Wheeler was born in Kansas City, Missouri and was involved in choir at school starting in the first grade.

29 – Friday: September Spice It Up, Coronado will be from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Library. Each month, the library invites community members to explore different spices used in dishes around the world. Registrants will pick up the monthly spice/herb selection at the library, cook with it, and join other food enthusiasts to discuss what they made and their thoughts about the spice. For September, the library will explore cooking with dried French tarragon.
