A fermentation demonstration will be hosted by Austin Durant in the Winn Room of the Coronado Public Library at 11 a.m. on August 4.

Durant has been fermenting food for more than 12 years. His foolproof method to creating a crispy dill pickle will be presented to the public, along with lessons on the merits of pickling and fermenting.

Durant has a verified list of credentials. In 2011, he studied at Sandor Katz’s five-day Fermentation Residency Program in Tennessee. And that same year, he founded Fermenters Club in his hometown of San Diego.

He has taught over 150 classes on various food fermentation traditions like sauerkraut, pickles, kimchi, kombucha and miso.

He has also published more than 150 recipes and created self-paced food fermentation mastery courses through Fermenters Club Academy.
