There are so many fun traditions families participate in to celebrate the holidays. And there are some clever and creative ways to bring our dogs into the fun, too.
On TikTok, user Maple Sweet Golden (@maplesweetgolden) shared a cute video of their two dogs, who are excited to celebrate the Fourth of July by trying out red, white, and blue foods. The video is charming — take a look!

The video is one-and-a-half minutes long and features two sweet Golden Retrievers named Maple and Sweet. The text on the screen mimics the two pups’ conversation about the Fourth of July being another human holiday—the one with the loud noises.
The dogs, Lucy and Maple, patiently wait at the table, watching their human behind the camera who is preparing some foods for them to test out. The food is holiday themed, with the first treat offered being a red raspberry, which wasn’t their favorite at all, but Lucy seemed to enjoy it more than Maple.
Next up is a blueberry which seemed to be a better choice than the raspberry but neither pup seemed too thrilled with the fruit. Following that is a slice of apple which was clearly favored by Lucy, but Maple was still unsure about the fruits being offered.
The video is adorable, and the comment section is filled with people who loved watching the two dogs try new foods.
“Oh my god Maple just makes me wanna give her all the cuddles Lucy’s adorable too,” one viewer shared.
“Lucy knows how to steal very well, just look at her put her head over the treat so Maple can’t get it,” another added.
“Poor Maple needs his space!” someone else wrote.
“So interesting to see their different personalities (just like little kids),” added another.
According to The Farmer’s Dog, most fruits are safe for dogs to eat. “Certain fruits, like bananas, apples, strawberries, and blueberries can provide dogs with some healthy variety to their diet and work as a feel-good treat,” the site explains.
Adding, “Studies have indicated that an antioxidant-enriched diet can contribute to brain health in aging dogs. Fruits also provide increased hydration since they’re a good source of water.”
