Cats are not usually as energetic as a dog who needs a lot of play each day, but cats love to play. And they often have a favorite toy or two — which sometimes makes no sense.
On TikTok, user Mr. Bugs (@abugslife_3) shared a video of one of their cats playing with their favorite toy, that’s become an unusual hobby for the little one. It’s fun and weird, which means you have to watch the video.

In the 26-second video we learn that Mr. Bugs has an exciting way to play with his toy mouse and it’s become a weird hobby of his.
Holding onto the tail of a toy mouse using his teeth, Mr. Bugs swings the mouse from side to side and then does a final move to try and land the mouse on his head while the tail is still firmly held in his mouth.
“Good job, bugs. You’re getting them good,” Mr. Bugs’ parent is heard saying in the video. “You’re getting them so good.”
His mom continues to cheer him on as he attempts to swing the toy mouse hard enough to get it to land on his head. And Mr. Bugs eventually lands the mouse on his head — and then he probably starts all over again.
It’s clear from reading the comments that a lot of people were cheering on the cat, hoping he would land it where he wanted, and people thought he had basically made his own version of a Kendama.
“His favorite toy was a kendama in his previous life,” one person wrote.
“I have a feeling he’ll be doing this the rest of his life,” another viewer wrote.
“He was the inventor of the ball and paddle game in a past life,” added someone else.
“He’s only 20% orange kitty but the orange is working 110% overtime. That’s the cutest thing I’ve ever seen a cat do,” joked another viewer.
According to the Humane Society, kittens and young cats play more than adult cats do, and you should aim to play with your cat two to three times a day for around 15 minutes each time. And there are a lot of ways you can play with your cats.
“While stationary toys are not a substitute for interactive play, it’s important that your kitten has appropriate objects they can play with when not playing with you,” the organization explains.
“Make sure to rotate the toys. The same toys lying around all the time become boring for cats. It’s better to have a few toys that you rotate than numerous toys all over the floor.”
