The Coronado High School girls lacrosse team secured the No. 4 seed and will play at home May 11, against La Jolla High School in the CIF San Diego Section Open Division championship.

The Islanders finished second in the league play at 8-4, while posting a 14-6 overall record.

The defending state champions started the season hot, winning six straight games.

The Islanders twice beat La Jolla by a point during the season.

“It’s hard to beat a team three times, but I think we can do it,” said Coach Caroline Carlson. “We came out in the season with two wins. So, we will have to bring home the hat trick.”

Should the Islanders win again, they would play the winner of No. 1 seed Torrey Pines and No. 8 seed Scripps Ranch on May 16.
