I’ve been thinking about the first time I voted. I made my way to the firehouse, proudly presented my registration, and my local volunteer checked off my name from her roster of qualified voters.

As a little girl, I promised myself that I would not miss an election. My grandmother had been a suffragette. I was aware of how precious the right to vote is.

Someone had earned this right for me, and I intended to use it. I have not forgotten that promise I made to my grandmother. I’m looking forward to practice that right in the upcoming election.
