4 Wednesday: The Coronado Public Library, in partnership with the Coronado Island Film Festival, presents Film Forum Coronado, taking place the first and third Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. in the library’s Winn Room.
Film expert Ralph DeLauro provides a brief introduction to each film and leads a discussion afterwards, often including pointers about how lighting or camera angles contribute to a scene’s mood or propel the story. The film presented on Feb. 4 is “Yellow Rose.”
5 Thursday: The John D. Spreckels Center is scheduled to host an open house for available jobs with Recreation and Golf Services on Feb. 5 from 2 to 5 p.m. Recreation and Golf Services is currently hiring for a variety of flexible, part-time positions, including aquatics, day camps, and youth programs. 5 Thursday: The Coronado Public Library is hosting an evening with Caitlin Rother, bestselling author and investigative journalist, as she explores the twists and turns of her latest thriller, “Hooked,” set in San Diego. Drawing on her background in true-crime reporting — including her book “Death on Ocean Boulevard,” set in Coronado — Rother brings real-world tension and insight to her fiction. The event will start at 7 p.m.
