Displays channeling the spirit of “An out of this world Christmas” theme will visit the Coronado Ferry Landing ahead of the winter holiday this December.

Returning for its 55th year, the San Diego Bay Parade of Lights will bring 80 festive water vessels from the boating community to honor this year’s theme and illuminate the city’s bayfront for more than 100,000 spectators on Dec. 14 and Dec. 21.

The boat displays can be viewed from multiple locations on both dates, beginning at Shelter Island at 5:30 p.m. and ending at the Coronado Ferry Landing at 7:40 p.m. The rest of the route includes Harbor Island at 5:45 p.m., Seaport Village at 6:20 p.m., the Embarcadero areas at 6:50 p.m., and Cesar Chavez Park Pier at 7:20 p.m.

Parade organizers say the event is free and viewers are encouraged to arrive early at procession locations. Organizers say viewing times are approximate and the entire route takes up to one-and-a-half hours.

“The Port is proud to support this iconic event every year and welcome all to experience the magic of the holidays along our waterfront,” said Danielle Moore, chair of the Port of San Diego board of port commissioners. “The San Diego Bay Parade of Lights is a favorite tradition that helps bring people together to highlight our amazing boating community and celebrate the joys of the season.”
