A boy and his goat are going viral again for their never-ending friendship and sweet bond. The boy’s mom re-shared a clip to social media detailing the boy’s attachment to his goat and the goat’s love for the boy, and fans are falling in love with the duo’s bond all over again.

In a video reshared to social media, the boy can be seen sitting in his car seat while mom or dad drives, his buddy the goat nestled comfortably in his lap. The two look peaceful together on the car ride as they gaze out the car window, passing houses and fields.

“This seems to be making the rounds again, so thought I would share what these two look like now,” she writes. “Watching my kids grow up with goats was never on my bingo card, but I wouldn’t trade it. Core memories.”

She then shares an updated video of the boy and his precious goat. Older now, the pair’s bond still runs deep as they run and play together in the family’s expansive backyard.

“It is VITAL that children grow up with animals… They learn to be ‘human,’” shared one commenter. Another added, “Nothing beats animals and children sharing and living life together… a precious gift that all children should experience.”

Why goats form deep bonds with humans

While a goat is an unlikely pet, goats are actually able to form deep bonds with humans. With their ability to recognize human faces and interpret body language, goats recognize happy voices and gestures. Goats may show their bond to humans by nuzzling or leaning against them and will seek out humans when in need of help, using their eyes or body language to indicate they need assistance—much like a dog.

Like other pets, goats can develop a favorite human, which is usually the person who gives them the most consistent and loving attention.
