Some of the tiniest soldiers have the biggest obstacles to overcome, and nine out of ten times, they come through like little warriors. There’s something about having the odds stacked that fires up their need to show the world they can, and will, overcome—no matter what.
One inspirational little lady is a sweet Button quail named Lady Porg. After suffering a traumatic injury that caused her to lose her beak and stop chirping altogether, she’s finally finding her voice again—and it’s such a beautiful sound.

As noted in the caption, this little angel hadn’t chirped one bit since the night she was injured. Mom didn’t know if she ever would again until, out of nowhere, she let her soul sing.
“Today, she chirped. Just a little. Just enough to say: ‘I’m still here. Thank you,'” the caption adds. Progress is progress, no matter how small or triumphant, and this is a huge victory!
The determined Button quail may be a small queen, but everyone’s already falling in love with her tenacity.

Many others couldn’t help but give the sweet baby all the love, noting how brave and perfect she is. They’re not wrong. Lady Porg has been through it and she’s still here, still fighting, and still the most precious girl around.

Even without her beak, the courageous Button quail is thriving right alongside her fur friends. She may still have more to overcome, but no doubt—she’ll show us all she can do it.
Lady Porg’s backstory
As Mom shared in other posts, the exact cause of Lady Porg’s injury isn’t clear, and the last time she chirped was directly before the incident.
“At first, I thought it might have been another, more aggressive quail. Maybe a predator that got too close. Or maybe just a bad luck situation,” she wrote. “She since has been transferred to the disabled aviary with a couple of other sweet misfits.”
However awful that must’ve been, the most important thing is that she’s still here, fighting each day to heal a little more. With the sweet sounds of those little chirps, she’s well on her way—no beak necessary!
