Overview:
Online bidding will open on Sept. 5, and the auction culminates in an in-person bidding event in Hong Kong. Bidders will need a $100,000 deposit.
The estate, known as 3 The Point in the Coronado Cays, has been on the market for more than a year now, but the nearly 12,000-square-foot dwelling is now up for auction, and bidding opened on Sept. 8 at $19 million.
Concierge Auctions, a New-York based luxury real estate auction marketplace, is hosting the September auction. The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that the property is owned by a trust operated by the Call family, known for the Flying J. Fuel Co., a major chain of truck stops across North America.
The seven-bedroom, 11-bathroom property has more than 320 feet of private bay frontage with two private docks. The property offers a vantage point with views of the Pacific Ocean, Coronado Bridge and downtown San Diego skyline.

3 The Point was designed by Horst Architects with architectural execution by Tony Crisafi of Island Architects in La Jolla.
Among other amenities, the property has a rooftop deck that’s more than 3,000 square feet; that deck is elevated above the bay like a private resort.
“3 The Point exemplifies what today’s global luxury buyer is seeking: privacy, innovation, beauty, and direct access to nature — in this case, the Pacific Ocean,” said Bob Buttaro, vice president of business development at Concierge Auctions. “This property deserves an international stage, and we are honored to present it through our platform to the world’s most discerning clientele.”

After online bidding began on Sept. 8, the in-person auction will happen at Hong Kong’s prestigious hotel, The Upper House, on Sept.17.
3 The Point is one of the many luxury properties on the auction block at the firm’s annual Hong Kong Global Sale. Other properties up for bidding are located in places like Aspen, Colo.; Shibuya and Tokyo, Japan; and Santa Fe, N.M.
