Some cats are so unlucky. While many do get adopted pretty quickly from shelters, there are a whole other group of cats who are stuck waiting months and even years for a forever home. It’s devastating.
On Tuesday, Aug. 5, everybody was in tears over one cat in particular. This adorable Tabby cat has been in the shelter for five years, and he’s still not giving up hope. All he wants is a forever home, and he’s not going to stop being kind and hopeful until he gets it:
@petrescuesolutionsEUGENE has waited almost 5 years for someone to choose him. 😭💔 His brother got adopted. He watched him leave… and never looked back. Eugene is still here — still kind, still gentle, still hopeful. But lately, he doesn’t even want to stay in the cat room. 😞🐱 It’s getting harder for him to wait. He just wants to be loved. To be chosen. Please don’t let him grow old without ever knowing what “home” feels like. 💔 #adoptdontshop #catrescue #catsoftiktok #rescuecat #adoptme #fyp #waitingforahome #lonelycat #sadcatvideo #fyp #foryoupage #fypシ゚viral #fypシ
Pet Rescue Solutions is pretty much at a loss when it comes to sweet Eugene here. They see him every day. They know how sweet he is. They cannot fathom why he doesn’t have prospective adopters lining up around the block, and yet he’s been there for five whole years.
Eugene, a domestic Shorthair and Maine Coon mix, was brought into the shelter five years ago with at least one of his brothers. The brother was adopted very quickly, but Eugene has had no luck with prospective parents.
He’s neutered, litter-trained, and can live or a house with other cats, children, and even dogs. He’s handsome and snuggly, and the shelter workers claim he doesn’t have a mean bone in his body. He is as happy as he could possibly be in his situation: he won’t let anything break him down.
Do you see this handsome man? How could anyone possibly pass him up?!
If you want to give Eugene the forever home he deserves, you can find him at Pet Rescue Solutions in South El Monte, California. You can fill out an adoption application on their website, too!
Some cats are overlooked
There’s no one clear reason as to why some cats take longer to be adopted than others. There are factors that contribute: many prefer younger cats, they might prefer cats of a certain color, some breeds are more “desirable” than others.
However, sometimes, some cats just don’t get adopted, even if there’s no particular reason. That’s the case for Eugene, but I just know he’ll find the family he deserves soon enough!
