17 Sunday: Art in the Park will take place in Spreckels Park on Aug. 17 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. More than 50 top artists in San Diego County, in every genre, will display their artwork, providing the community the chance to converse directly with the artists.
17 Sunday: The Suenamis are scheduled to perform at Spreckels Park at 6 p.m. as part of Coronado Promenade Concerts’ summer series.
20 Wednesday: The Coronado Public Library, in partnership with the Coronado Island Film Festival, presents Film Forum Coronado, taking place the first and third Wednesday of each month at 6 p.m. in the library’s Winn Room.
Film expert Ralph DeLauro provides a brief introduction to each film and leads a discussion afterwards, often including pointers about how lighting or camera angles contribute to a scene’s mood or propel the story. The featured film on Aug. 20 is “Spring in a Small Town.”
20 Wednesday: The Coronado Democratic Club will host a featured speaker, Jason Bercovitch, who is the district director for Congressman Scott Peters, at 5:45 p.m. at the Coronado Boathouse. Bercovitch will address immigration and border issues. Following the meeting, a social with food, drinks and s’mores will take place by the fire pit.
23 Saturday: The Coronado Ferry Landing’s free weekend concert series will feature the band Wild Rumour from 2 – 5 p.m. on Saturday.
