The Coronado Island Film Festival’s student classic film series is presenting a special Memorial Day screening — a post-WWII movie titled “The Best Years of Our Lives” — on May 25 at the Coronado Public Library.
The film follows three World War II veterans as they return home and readjust to the society they left behind a few years prior.
This post-war film directed by William Wyler won seven Oscars, with an additional Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor going to veteran Harold Russell, who played the role of Homer Parish. Russell was also awarded an honorary Oscar for “bringing aid and comfort to disabled veterans through the medium of motion pictures.”
The event is free and open to the entire community. The screening will start at 1 p.m., concluding at 4:30 p.m.
