Many dogs and cats are often rescued from homes that involve hoarding. These living conditions are unsanitary, unhealthy, and cause animals a great deal of stress. The neglect they suffer in these situations can be difficult to overcome. Thanks to the miraculous work of animal rescue organizations, these animals can be rehabilitated and get a new “leash” on life.
Pork Chop the Chihuahua was rescued along with several of his siblings from a hoarding situation in Texas. Though the precious pups were placed in separate homes, a special meetup was arranged for Pork Chop and his sister.
@ontariosbestPork Chop is a rescue chihuahua from Texas. He came from a hoarding situation where his human passed away. When the apartment was finally entered again, 7 chihuahuas were found. The good folks at Texas Chihuahua Rescue took them all in. Three of those senior pups made their way to Canada, Pork Chop and his sister being two of them. I was able to find all of his Canadian siblings and had the opportunity to reunite with one of them. That being said, I think he prefers being an only child now. #chi #chihuahua #chihuahuastiktok #rescuedog #texaschihuahuarescuecanada
In the TikTok from @ontariosbest, the caption explained that Texas Chihuahua Rescue saved seven senior Chihuahuas from a hoarding situation when the owner passed away. Pork Chop, his sister, and one other Chi were placed in Canada. His foster mom located Pork Chop’s sister and setup a special reunion.
In the video, Pork Chop and his sis are being held by their pet parents and brought close to each other. With a little help, they “high-fived” paws. Though Pork Chop has a mix of black, white, and tan while his sister is pure white, you can easily see the family resemblance.
Followers raved over the touching scene.
“Omg they are adorable,” one remarked.
“Sweet babies,” a fan commented.
“Pork chop needs his own fan club,” another suggested.
“Please tell me her name is lamb chop,” a follower joked.
Dogs rescued from hoarding environments haven’t been walked on a leash. It’s important for the adoptive dog mom or dad to slowly introduce the leash and use lots of patience and positive reinforcement. These neglected and mistreated dogs are often fearful of people and need plenty of time to acclimate to their new home and parents. Keeping your home calm and quiet is helpful for these animals to begin feeling safe.
According to Pork Chop’s foster mom, he seems to like having some space. While he was happy to see his sister, she noted in the caption, “I think he prefers being an only child now.”
