10 Saturday: The Coronado Democratic Club will host a meeting on May 10 at 10:30 a.m. in the Winn room of the Coronado Public Library. The meeting will feature a dual program, welcoming award-winning journalist Lorie Hearn, representatives from the Citizens Casualty Awareness Training team, and a brief update on the important work of InclusioNado by Marely Ramirez and Nina Smart.
11 Sunday: From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Coronado Historical Association will be hosting the annual Mother’s Day Historic Home Tour, where participants can walk through historic homes in Coronado. Tickets can be purchased at coronadohistory.org.
11 Sunday: A free concert featuring “The New Catillacs” will take place at the Coronado Ferry Landing from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
12 Monday: Once a month, local entrepreneur Jon Pollock hosts “The Forum,” a time for local business owners and leaders from diverse types of companies to discuss business and personal challenges. Current forum members hail from a wide range of industries, including real estate, software development, construction, staffing and more. A different member hosts the meeting at their place of business each month. The group is currently looking for new members. Prospects are interviewed and must be approved by the group. 17 Saturday: In this collaborative film class with executive producer Tony Perri, aspiring filmmakers will work together to create a short film that will be submitted to the Coronado Island Film Festival.
Participants will learn scripting, direction and every aspect of pre-production, production and post-production. The course is eight weeks long and participants are encouraged to attend as many sessions as possible on Saturdays from 1 to 2 p.m. Registration closes at coronado.librarycalendar.com on May 11.
