The Port of San Diego is hosting a workshop on April 29 to seek input on potential coastal resilience strategies along the eastern shoreline of Grand Caribe Shoreline Park.

In December, the port effectively blocked controversial plans to build an RV development on the property next to the Cays, which is currently being used as a boat storage yard.

On Dec. 10, the port bought out the lease for $3 million to develop the land further as a 2.9-acre community park with upgrades and amenities.

Now, the port is asking for community input on potential design concepts.

The workshop will take place at the Coronado Cays Yacht Club at 5 p.m. on April 29.

The project team will provide a brief presentation about the shoreline’s current vulnerability to erosion and discuss concepts designed to provide shoreline stability and maintain public access with minimal impact on the adjacent habitat.

Following the presentation, participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and provide input on potential design concepts with the project team.

The project team will use the community feedback received at the workshop to refine a preferred design concept that will be presented at a second workshop in mid-2025.
