The salvage team working to recover the EA-18G Growler that crashed into the San Diego Bay on Feb. 12 conducted a thorough review of the collected debris and recovery site on March 5 and notified regulatory agencies that they had concluded salvage operations, according to Commander, Naval Air Forces.

Two pilots were conducting an exercise at Naval Air Station North Island when they ejected safely from the aircraft before it hit the water in the bay. The recovery operation began on Feb. 16.

The investigation conducted by Commander, Naval Air Forces is ongoing.

Navy commands that assisted in the recovery effort included Amphibious Construction Battalion One, Navy Region Southwest, Naval Base Coronado, Naval Base Point Loma, Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command Southwest, Naval Safety Command, Naval Sea Systems Command Supervisor of Salvage and Diving, Electronic Attack Wing Pacific and the U.S. Coast Guard.
