It’s always so cool when you get to see two totally different animals meet each other and see what their reactions are. A Cockatoo visiting the Sea Quest Aquarium had an adorable Otter encounter, and it looks like both species were totally curious about each other.
Just check out how these Otters reacted to the Cockatoo and vice versa. We think they became fast friends.

The adorable video was posted to the TikTok account for @Visitseaquest, and this is one of those times when I really wish I knew what animals were thinking.
Even though we don’t have information about whether or not the Cockatoo is a resident at the aquarium, I think it’s a safe bet to assume so. SeaQuest has 1,200 different animals from 300 different species and locations in places like Las Vegas, California, and Minnesota.
Their website states, “enjoy walk-in aviaries, coming face-to-face with crocodilians by feeding the caiman, or snorkeling in the premier 36,000-gallon exhibit filled with reef sharks, stingrays, and hundreds of tropical fish.”
As much as I have my own personal issues with animals kept in captivity, it does look like they care about conservation, so that’s never a bad thing.
I will admit I’d pretty much do just about anything to be able to hang out with an otter in person. These little guys are forever adorable. I’d be trying to make friends just as fast at the Cockatoo in the video above did!
Do Otters and Cockatoos have anything in common?
At first glance, you would think a bird like a Cockatoo would have nothing in common with a sort of aquatic mammal like an Otter, but these two adorable creatures actually have a few similarities!
Both Cockatoos and Otters are super smart. Otters use tools like rocks to crack open shellfish, while Cockatoos can solve puzzles and even pick locks.
Both creatures also are affectionate. Otters live in tight-knit family groups, and Cockatoos form close bonds with their mates or human caregivers.
Cockatoos and Otters both love to play, and Otters do things like slide down riverbanks for fun, and Cockatoos love dancing to music and playing with toys.
So even though it would seem these two animals don’t have a lot in common, they are more alike then you’d think!
