As the wildfires continue to burn in California, so many animals have ended up displaced from their homes and are in desperate need of shelter. People are doing what they can to help, whether it’s shuffling pets around shelters elsewhere in the state to make room for fire refugees or fostering animals in need of a safe place to stay. And now, the internet is falling in love with a sweet kitten who was moved out of Pasadena Humane Society to make more room for other pets.Â
Just looking at the kitty — whose name is Piglet — it’s pretty impossible not to fall in love with him. He’s been through a lot, and has ended up with a “piglet nose” that has given his face a lot of character.Â
@officialkittenlady We took in a medical kitten from Pasadena—an angel with the cutest lil piggy nose. Meet Piglet! Piglet has a broken radius and ulna, and will be in a cast for the next few weeks. We don’t know much about his history, but he has what looks like a healed head wound, so it’s clear he experienced some kind of trauma. In spite of that, he is as affectionate as can be—purring and playing and just longing for attention. I can’t wait for his future person to fall in love with him. We anticipate that he’ll be healed and ready for his forever home through Orphan Kitten Club sometime in February. Piglet has had a big week! He was in Pasadena when the fires broke out, and was exited from @pasadenahumane by way of @sdhumanesociety to help make space for the hundreds of injured and displaced animals that Pasadena Humane is taking in. He’s now with us to make space for San Diego Humane to continue assisting. This has been an all-hands-on-deck week, and I’m happy we can play a tiny part in helping this tiny kitten. 🩷
On Monday, January 13, foster mom @officialkittenlady shared that she’d taken in a kitten with special needs, and as anyone can clearly see from this video, he’s not letting his challenges keep him from playing… or winning the hearts of people all over the world.
“Piglet has a broken radius and ulna, and will be in a cast for the next few weeks,” his foster mom wrote. “We don’t know much about his history, but he has what looks like a healed head wound, so it’s clear he experienced some kind of trauma. In spite of that, he is as affectionate as can be — purring and playing and just longing for attention.”Â
What a sweetheart! He already has plenty of fans — just one look at the comments will show you that. Some people even shared that seeing Piglet encouraged them to foster a pet from an area affected by the wildfires, too. How cool!Â
Piglet will find a forever home
According to the caption on the video, Piglet won’t be a foster kitten for long. He will be available for adoption in February through an organization called Orphan Kitten Club.
However, if you’re hoping to bring Piglet home, there are a few things you need to know first. The organization’s website states that those who want to adopt through them must be relatively local — within eight hours of driving distance to San Diego — and that most of their kittens will be adopted in pairs.
They also specified that hopeful kitty parents will need to be over the age of 21, and will have to fill out an application for the cat they’re interested in… and something tells me people will absolutely be lining up for Piglet.Â
As they should. He’s a handsome fellow. Here’s hoping his recovery goes smoothly!
