Guardian Vision Solutions, an organization that equips first responders with maps to expedite emergency rescues, is partnering with the district to do pro bono work that will map schools in the district using Geographic Information System (GIS) technology to help prevent, respond to, and recover from threats.
This decision was announced at the Dec. 13 school board meeting.
This technology uses aerial images, grid coordinates and site-specific labels that will be accessible online for staff and emergency responders, according to a report by Superintendent Karl Mueller.
Mueller said mapping of the District Office was conducted over Thanksgiving break as a pilot.
“I had an opportunity to review, it’s amazing,” said Mueller. “You can actually scroll through and it’s like you’re in the room.”
