SAN DIEGO — The Los Angeles-class fast-attack submarine USS Scranton successfully undocked from the floating dry dock ARCO on Sept. 4 at Naval Base Point Loma following a crucial maintenance period.
The period of dry dock maintenance work and coordination was essential to ensuring Scranton’s readiness for future operations, allowing for necessary upgrades and repairs to enhance its war-fighting capabilities.
“Together we navigated complex tasks with precision, ensuring every operation was executed seamlessly,” said Lt. Cmdr. Gregory Johnson, commanding officer of ARCO. “Today, we celebrate not just the successful completion of a docking period, but the unwavering commitment and teamwork of everyone involved.”
As the submarine returns to the water, Scranton’s crew and the staff of Commander, Submarine Squadron 11 will shift focus to recertifying upgraded systems to ensure Scranton maintains its edge in a dynamic security environment.
