The Rotary Club of Coronado will be hosting a new food collection program called “Christmas in October,” open to all nonprofit organizations on the island to participate in.
The Coronado Optimist Club, Coronado Soroptimist Club, Coronado United Methodist Church, Safe Harbor Coronado and FOCUS Coronado, will be participating in this event alongside the Coronado Rotary. Nonprofits are encouraged to donate canned meats, vegetables and fruit, as well as pasta, pasta sauce, peanut butter, soups, macaroni and cheese, cereal, cooking oil, jelly and jams, frosting, muffin and cake mixes to this event.
The donations will be going toward the Imperial Beach Neighborhood Center Food Pantry, an organization that distributes free monthly food to more than 200 people, including low-income families, families of enlisted sailors and older adults.

All donations are due by 5 p.m. on Oct. 23, or can be self-delivered by joining the Rotary Club at the IB Food Pantry on Oct. 24 at 10 a.m.
