The U.S. Navy Parachute Team, the “Leap Frogs” performed a down plane maneuver for the spectators on the Coronado Golf Course for the 4th of July celebration.
The 11-member team currently serves active-duty in a variety of rates — or jobs — within Naval Special Warfare, which is located on Naval Amphibious Base Coronado.
According to Lt. Nick Obletz, the officer-in-charge of the Leap Frogs, the team travels around the country to perform in 30-40 events per year, but their annual jump in Coronado on the 4th of July is one they especially enjoy.
“Our homebase [is] just across over there at the amphibious base, so we drive past it every day,” Obletz said. “It’s been a longtime tradition of the team to participate in this event in Coronado, just because of the amount of support we receive from the local community.”
Obletz said the team’s specializes in maneuvers, which spectators could witness when members interlocked their legs as they came in close to the ground.
