The most expensive single-family home sold in February in all of San Diego County is located just off of Central Beach on F Avenue in Coronado.
The 14,054-square-foot property is also the most expensive home to be sold in all of Coronado history. “Selling Sunsets” reality TV personality Jason Oppenheim at the Oppenheim Group, alongside Jan Clements from Compass, sold the property on Feb. 2.
Built in 1925 by renowned architect Richard Requa, the home sold for $28 million – roughly $25.5 million more than the median sale price of Coronado homes in 2024, according to Redfin.
Historically designated in 2004
Oppenheim said the home’s desirability is a mix of “historical significance, architectural uniqueness, a meticulous restoration, luxurious features and amenities and a prime location in Coronado.”
The five bed, eight bath Spanish estate was historically designated in 2004 and recognized by the Mills Act in 2016. In accordance with this act, past and future owners of the home have been tasked with preserving the building’s architectural integrity in exchange for significantly lower property taxes.

Stepping into the 13,129-square-foot main house is a journey into the architectural style and extravagance of the 1920s. Despite undergoing numerous renovations by previous owners, the home is riddled with historical pieces, including 250-year-old stonework surrounding the pool, ceiling beams comprised of over 100-year-old wood and imported 100-and-up year old terracotta flooring.
Its Spanish Mediterranean style is paired with vintage Hollywood glamor, as seen in the property’s castle-like entrance hall, hand-hewn beams, ornate ironwork, stained-glass windows and hand-painted coffered ceilings.
Renovated with modern amenities
Despite the estate’s historical aura, it boasts a large array of state-of-the-art, modern amenities. Attached to a grand staircase is a 7,000-square-foot basement that features a golf simulator, media room and bar, trophy room, 25-seat movie theater, and a 1,300-square-foot world-class gym equipped with a full spa – including a dry sauna, massage table and ice bath.
The basement was constructed during a four-year renovation period undergone by the property’s most recent owners. As part of their renovations, the owners purchased the neighboring lot to the Spanish estate, significantly expanding the property’s yard.
Located just 100 feet from the beach, the expansive yard features a large guestroom, pool, outdoor kitchen, fireside dining area, dog run, putting green and a private garden sanctuary with tranquil fountains.
If 14,054-square-feet of historically rich architecture and modern amenities isn’t enough, a rooftop deck equipped with panoramic ocean views allows homeowners to bask in their oceanfront property.
Sold during increase in property values
The recent sale of the F Avenue home came during a month of high property values in San Diego County. According to the Times of San Diego, the median price of single-family homes was just over $1 million in February, up nearly 7% from January.
It was also a month of frequent property purchases – single family home sales in February rose by 20%, while sales of condominiums and townhomes increased by 24%, according to the San Diego Association of REALTORS.
