By no means is resilience simply a human trait. In fact, that’d be crazy to assume! From wild animals to our loving house pets to farm animals and beyond, every living being on this planet has the ability to fight on… and it’s always inspiring.
Take this adorable goat in the video below, for instance. She lost her back legs to frostbite when she was just a baby and the kind folks at the Gentle Barn recently fixed her up with some prosthetic legs. They might take some getting used to, sure, but she’s looking like an absolute pro already if you ask me! See for yourself:
@thegentlebarnLolli got her new prosthetics! Thanks to your support, she’s now learning to use them and taking steps into her new life. In case you missed it, Lolli’s legs have been at risk of atrophying as an adult. When we rescued her as a tiny baby, we set her up with her first pair of prosthetics and when she outgrew those, a wheelchair, along with necessary therapies to help her thrive. Now that she’s fully grown, with functioning leg muscles, it’s time to get circulation going better in her back legs. She’s been receiving increased physical therapies, acupuncture, and more, and now she has her shiny new prosthetics! #animalrescue #goattok
As the caption mentions, Lolli’s legs have been at risk of atrophying as an adult. When she was first rescued, she was given a pair of prosthetics but naturally outgrew them, as well as her wheelchair. However, as the Gentle Barn mentions:
“Now that she’s fully grown, with functioning leg muscles, it’s time to get circulation going better in her back legs. She’s been receiving increased physical therapies, acupuncture, and more, and now she has her shiny new prosthetics!”

How awesome is that? Being an above-elbow amputee myself, I feel like I can sort of relate to this inspiring little goat, but let’s be honest… she’s WAY cooler than me! She’s an absolute gem and I’m so excited to see her progress with those tricky little prosthetics. Change can be difficult but mindset is everything. And this cutie knows it. Soon enough, she’ll be running laps around her friends and will certainly be sporting one of the more flashy looks on the farm, too. What a win-win! Shout out to the Gentle Barn for all that they do. This seriously made my day.
More about the gentle barn
The Gentle Barn really has quite a beautiful story, and since opening their first farm animal sanctuary in 1999, they’ve seriously made such a difference in the lives of countless animals… and there are certainly no signs of slowing down.
What started as a half-acre property in the middle of the San Fernando Valley, California, soon turned into a six-acre paradise in Santa Clarita, CA. And that’s not all!
You can find two other Gentle Barn locations in Nashville and St. Louis as well, each catering to a variety of farm animals in need in the most heartwarming ways.
There’s no shortage of happy, thriving farm animals at these sanctuaries, many who were on their last leg. That’s why the work these folks do (and their existence, just in general) is truly life-changing and unbelievably important.
Through the endless amount of stories and interactions with their animals, the Gentle Barn really focuses on raising future generations to have a deep respect for all life, protecting our planet and generally living good healthy, happy lives—and that goes for humans and animals.
Their selfless work does not go unnoticed and they inspire people like myself every single day with their efforts and affection. Stories like this are just the cherry on top!
Let Lolli be a reminder that you can always keep pushing on! Don’t let anything stop your progress. If she’s out there thriving, we all can. Also, never underestimate the resilience of animals. They’re fighters, through and through. And I’ll tell you what… I sure do love to see it.
