With St. Patrick’s Day right around the corner, this talented little pup is really getting us in the spirit with her impressive dance moves.

Something tells me she was an Irish dancer in a past life, because she really understands the assignment here. It’s adorable, sure, but we’re in the presence of a total star if you ask me! Take a look:

Call me crazy, but she’s completely keeping her tempo to her dad’s song, right? The only complaint I have about this clip is that it’s way too short! Eight seconds just isn’t enough, because I could watch this pup dish out her best Irish jig all day long.

Not every dog has rhythm like this, but it sure is cute anytime a pup steps onto their own personal dance floor and starts entertaining us with their moves. I like to think she feels pretty cool, too. She clearly takes her craft very seriously… and it shows. Some pups just have it like that!

Why some dogs love to dance

While every dog and situation is different, there’s no denying that some pups out there in the world absolutely love to dance. And although there aren’t many concrete reasons as to why they behave this way, there are plenty of theories that make sense.

For one, studies have shown that most dogs respond positively to certain genres of music over others, which makes sense, as they have very sensitive hearing. Depending on what your pup prefers, they might feel inspired to hop on their hind legs and let loose.

Also, the more of one specific genre they tend to listen to, the more they’ll respond to it in a positive way as well (so the fact that this pup has an Irish musician as her human makes total sense).

A fun way to test if your dog is actually listening to music is playing some of your favorite tunes with them in the room and suddenly stopping the song halfway through. If you notice a reaction from this, it’s fair to assume they were locked in and listening to a degree (despite if they were dancing or not).

In general, however, dancing is pretty rare behavior for most dogs when it really comes down to it. Mine certainly hasn’t ever danced, that’s for sure! But if they do dance, it’s something that can (and should) be encouraged, as long as it appears your pup really enjoys it.

That said, certain sounds and songs are known to freak dogs out a bit more than others, which is another thing for all pet parents to keep in mind when presenting music to their furry friends.

Again, they simply have such impressively sensitive hearing, a lot of the noises we hear are totally amplified when it comes to our canine companions. So just beware!

Your best bet is to just monitor their behavior and see how they respond to certain sounds and genres of music.

I will say this, though: some dogs clearly do love to dance and can definitely understand what rhythm is (at least to a certain degree) because otherwise, how would you explain this adorable video?

It’s a real treat if and when they do dance, though—there’s no denying that. And this little pup has me inspired to put on my best green outfit and get my jig on as well!
