This proud pup has all the reasons in the world to be as excited as he is in this adorable video. A new bed is a totally big deal, and he knows it.
Plus, I have to say—this is quite the upgrade! I’d be excited, too. Who wouldn’t be? I have a feeling this little guy will feel like he’s sleeping on clouds from here on out. Take a look!
@wackowinstonim very proud and excited
It cracks me up how he runs to the room and shows both of his beds. I’d say mom nailed it with the commentary there, “This is my old bed… and THIS is my new bed!” His enthusiasm is absolutely contagious, too. I mean, that’s pure joy. This was a big moment for Winston! Good thing he’ll have the perfect place to relax now after such an exciting day.

Seriously, though, as far as dog beds are concerned, that thing looks plush! Winston is living a life of luxury now and he absolutely deserves it. I wonder if his parents were expecting such a positive reaction? Not every dog enjoys sleeping in a dog bed, but Winston clearly does. And again… if it’s as comfy-looking as his, he’d be crazy not to.
Do dogs prefer their own bed?
All dog parents know how much our pups love being near us. Whether we’re relaxing on the couch or it’s time for bed, they’re typically within paws reach.
But after seeing Winston’s excitement over his new bed, it makes you wonder: Do dogs like sleeping in dog beds? Or, given the chance, would they rather just hog ours?
Well, every situation is different, and their preference usually stems from how they were trained as puppies. Where they sleep is one of the first things they typically learn, especially if they do in fact have their own designated area.
And the same can be said if they’ve slept on the bed with you since adding them to the family. It really just depends…
That said, dogs will pretty much sleep anywhere they feel safe and comfortable. So if their dog bed is in your room, and they can still have a nice, clear view of their humans, chances are they’ll snuggle up solo with a one-way ticket to dreamland.
When they sleep with their humans, however, it’s typically because they just feel safer and more secure having you nearby. It’s really as simple as that. All breeds are different—some are much more independent, for example—but the need to feel comfortable and protected is pretty universal when it comes down to it.
However, if your dog is anything like mine, they’ll ditch dog beds and human beds altogether. He prefers under the bed, which always cracks me, or sometimes the hard tile in our kitchen seems to do the trick. He’s different. But I love him!
If you find yourself in a position where you need your dog to sleep in their own doggy bed, like anything, it’ll just take some patience and training. Some might love it immediately while others will need a little extra encouragement. Either way—it can be done!
And if they need some extra convincing, just have them talk to Winston here. Because this pup absolutely loves his, and it’s a real treat to see.
