The Coronado Firehouse Annual Spaghetti Dinner benefiting the Burn Institute took place on July 23, and those attending feasted on spaghetti served by the firefighters.
The Hotel del Coronado and the Coronado Island Marriott donated the food, according to organizers.
With the concert in the park around the corner, diners wandered in to pick up to go
portions or sat at one of the community tables.
The mission of the Coronado Fire Department is to maintain a highly trained, professional organization providing excellent service to our community, region, state, and each other through duty, honor, respect and family.
Last year the event raised $11,000 for the Burn Institute, and the annual spaghetti dinner has occurred for about 40 years.
Making this event possible is the collaboration of Local 1475 of the Firefighters Union, while students from the Miramar Fire Academy and the Fire Science Program at
Southwestern College assisted.
The department consists of 32 full-time firefighters, seven lifeguards and administrative staff.
