The City of Coronado is celebrating the completion of Phase One of the Tennis and Pickleball Court Resurfacing Project on June 5 at 2:30 pm.

The Cays Park courts will be reopening June 5, after the completion of Phase One of the Tennis and Pickleball Court Resurfacing Project.

The rapidly growing sport of pickleball in San Diego spurred months of engagement, a community survey and meetings with the Coronado Tennis Association and Pickleball Coronado Association in order to discuss more playing areas for the increase in pickleball users in Coronado, according to city officials.

Since construction started on this project in April 2023, crews converted two existing tennis courts in Cays Park into Coronado’s first dedicated pickleball courts.

The first phase began at Cays Park, and the city is now celebrating its completion.

The community is invited to the official celebration on June 5 at 2:30 pm at the Cays Park.
