Horses spook easily. It’s a running joke with people who have them: they will legitimately get scared of their own shadows sometimes. They’re massive and have absolutely no reason to be so scared, but they are. That fear sticks with them, too. They get scared in one spot once and that spot is done forever!
So, imagine one horse’s surprise when he pulls up to the horse show and finds out that there’s another horse there. Except he’s not even a horse, he’s a zebra! The concern in his face is everything we never knew we needed:
@cuttinoutwestDo yall wanna see him spooking at it
Brooke’s poor Gelding has no idea what’s happening right now, and I think that’s hilarious. Someone in the comments said this is the “horse version of Uncanny Valley.” They’re totally right!
The horse’s name is Cool, which is a little ironic. He apparently doesn’t spook particularly easily, either; Brooke doesn’t really understand why Susie the Zebra had him looking like he literally just saw the Grim Reaper, but it’s fine. He managed to get himself back together in time to get back to work.
Susie is indeed a zebra, and she just lives in the backyard. They have several other animals, including more horses, goats, and even a camel. Why they have them is unclear, but it doesn’t need to be. They’re well-loved, happy, and super fun to watch!
Susie is adoring being a TikTok star, apparently. I can’t wait for the fame to go to her head:
@cuttinoutwestReplying to @sweet potato your promised zebra video 🤣❤️
They’re literally friends, according to the comments. Once Susie settled in, the two of them started getting along just fine. Even still, I bet he gets scared by her every so often!
Can you have a zebra?
Zebras are certainly not your typical farm animal. Horses, absolutely. Goats, very versatile. A camel? What? A zebra? I love the vibes, but why?
It is legal to have a zebra in almost every single U.S. state, except for Maryland and New Hampshire, where it is outlawed completely. It’s also prohibited in Washington D.C. Other than in those states, you can technically own a zebra, though there may be state/county/city restrictions depending where you live.
They’re very social and can be aggressive, so if you want one, you’ll need a lot of space, some other animals (preferably other zebras), and a lot of free time. Susie is the star of the show!
