5 Saturday: Coronado’s Liberty Celebration swim will start at Glorietta Bay Park on July 5. There will be a half-mile, one-mile and 3K race, along with additional youth race categories. Online registration closes at 8 a.m. on July 5. The first race will start at 8:30 a.m.

5 Saturday: Join Emerald Keepers and the Coronado Fourth of July committee bright and early on July 5 to help remove fireworks debris from the golf course. Volunteers are requested to meet at 6 a.m. sharp with buckets and pickers at the intersection of Glorietta Boulevard and Vista Place. Emerald Keepers will also have supplies on hand.

6 Sunday: Art in the Park will take place in Spreckels Park on July 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. More than 50 top artists in San Diego County, in every genre, will display their artwork, providing the community the chance to converse directly with the artists.

6 Sunday: Nate Nathan and the MacDaddy-O’s will be performing in Spreckels Park at 6 p.m. as part of Coronado Promenade Concert’s summer series.

9 Wednesday: New York Times bestselling author Caitlin Rother will discuss her latest book, “Down to the Bone,” on July 9 at 7 p.m. in the Winn Room of the Coronado Public Library. The book is a deep dive into the San Diego-based McStay family murders.

10 Thursday: The Coronado Public Library hosts open chess play on the second Thursday of every month between 3 and 5 p.m. in the Winn Room. Participants can enjoy playing chess with others, or learn to play or improve their game with help from facilitator and local chess coach Chuck McClung. Chess boards and pieces are provided. Open to all adults age 18 and older.
