When there’s a mouse in your house, it can be a little scary. Sure, mice are mostly harmless, but seeing them is startling and then you have to worry if your house is infested! Where there’s one, there’s always a chance that there are more.

Of course, someone will always propose that simply getting a cat should be enough to take care of the problem, but that’s not always the case. Take, for instance, these cats putting a mouse they discovered on trial before the council:

@hannahwascool69I’d hate to be this guy #cats #mouse

♬ The End – LLow

I love that @hannahwascool69 is just letting this go down. Everyone is entitled to a fair trial, after all!

These kitties are actually decent mouse hunters, according to their mom, though we don’t know their names. At least one of them is named Frankie (the black and white one), but to maintain their professional personas, the rest of the council has decided to remain anonymous(e).

She has not posted a video update about whether or not the mouse made it, so we’re kind of left to draw our own conclusions. Here’s what we do know:

  1. Nature is going to take its course.
  2. These cats are proven mouse hunters.
  3. Three other mice were not approved by the council…

I’m not sure what the results were, but my hopes aren’t high.

Cats and mice have a complicated relationship. How much harm a cat might do to a mouse depends on how much experience a cat has with mice. While most cats have a “predatory play” drive, they’re indoor only cats and would probably not have any idea what to do with it.

Feral cats, former street cats, or certain breeds like Savannahs and Bengals will have higher prey drives than other cats. However, even indoor-only cats can do some damage, even if they don’t necessarily mean to.

I’m sure the council made the best decision they could. They look like a respectable bunch!
