Efforts to bring attention to transboundary pollution continue across the border.

Tijuana Animal Save alongside other activists in Tijuana will be organizing a demonstration to raise awareness of the Mexican government’s failure to take action against ocean contamination, organizers said.

The joint beach clean up and outreach event to enact the Plant-Based Treaty in Tijuana is set to take place Sunday, July 2 at Playas de Tijuana, Los Arcos beginning at 8:30 a.m.

Andrea Diaz, Tijuana Animal Save organizer, said the groups seek to raise awareness and encourage local officials to take immediate action to fix the sewage drainage issue.

Diaz said the event intends to help attendees understand the extent to which the transboundary pollution dangers affect public health and the environment, in turn hurting animal species and livelihood.

This event is the first of its kind and will include subsequent action in the weeks that follow, added Diaz.
